Course contribution

This contribution forms part of the [Un]reliable Science Massive Open Online Course hosted on DigiCampus. The course is connected to the EMIF-funded project Unreliable science: Unraveling the impact of mainstream media misrepresentation and addresses how unreliable or retracted scientific claims continue to circulate after formal scholarly correction.

Two short lectures

  1. Short lecture: The Retraction of Scientific Publications — 1 July 2026. The lecture explains what happens when problems surface after publication, how corrections, expressions of concern and retractions differ, who participates in the correction process, and why readers should follow visible correction signals before citing or sharing a paper.   2. [Un]reliable Science: Two Case Studies on the Spreading of Retracted Articles — 11 March 2026. Using cases from retracted medical research, the lecture examines how correction does not automatically stop public circulation and connects retraction history with scholarly attention, news, social-media discussion and YouTube exposure.
